External Anatomy

External parts is separated into three regions; head, trunk, and tail. The body shape is streamlined.

Parts and Functions:

·         Eye- sight

·         Eyelid- covers eye for defense

·         Nostril- sent

·         Mouth- feeding

·         Spiracle- water passageway for respiration

·         Gill Slits- breathing

·         1st  Dorsal Fin- swimming+ stabilization

·         2nd  Dorsal Fin- stabilization

·         Pectoral Fin- keep shark form sinking

·         Pelvic Fin- assists in the sharks going up and down

·         Claspers- fertilization

·         Caudal Fin- tail fin, steering

·         Rostrum- support snout

·         Lateral Line- movement receptors

·         Cloaca- receives products of intestine

·         Dorsal Spines- flexion, extension, rotation and lateral flexion
