Digestive System

Digestive system used for digesting food and absorbing nutrients.

 

 

Parts and Functions:

·         Mouth- where food enter the digestion system

·         Esophagus- transport food from mouth to cardiac stomach

·         Cardiac Stomach- digests food then to pyloric stomach

·         Pyloric Stomach- 2nd stomach breaks down food stomach

·         Rugae- gives stomach greater surface area

·         Liver- makes bile for digestion

·         Cardiac Sphincter- separates stomach

·         Pyloric Sphincter- transfers food into small intestine

·         Mesentery- holds digestive organs together

·         Gall Bladder- stores extra bile

·         Common Bile Duct- transfers bile to digestive organs

·         Pancreas- makes digestive enzymes

·         Duodenum- small tube the small intestine that gall bladder empties to

·         Ileum- absorbs nutrients form food

·         Spiral Valve- lets the ileum increase in size

·         Colon- absorbs water

·         Rectum- absorbs water

·         Cloaca- the digestive tracts exit
